Our first meeting took place in 1992. The aims of the group has always been to share and exchange ideas, skills, information and techniques to increase members creative knowledge and to encourage members to submit work for public exhibition.
Our programme is varied. We invite Guest speakers, that can talk on a subject that is relative to our members interests, and/or can do a workshop.
Members also enjoy seeing each others work at our annual Show and Tell meeting.
We also have a good selection of books and videos in our Library covering most crafts, which can be borrowed by members.
Once a year we try to visit a place that has a craft interest. In the past we have visited such places as Whitchurch Silk Weaving, Wilton Carpet Factory and Bury St Edmunds to see an exhibition of Helen Steven's Embroideries.
Some members also go on our "Annual Retreat" to Bournemouth, Dorset (for 3/4 days), which is always enjoyed and is a great success.
During the year we are asked to attend local events and open days.
These have included:
Where we demonstrate a wide selection of crafts e.g. Spinning, Peg Loom Weaving, Knitting and Crochet etc.
